Hamilton Crossings 3D Model - Part 2 (Tour)

Model: Hamilton Crossings Retrofit
Location: Hamilton, Ohio
Original Completion Date: February 2010

Part 1
(just in case you missed it)

This is the tour portion of the model, the part where screenshots are shared of the sketchup model in question.  After this is the review and introspection, but for now, please enjoy the model.

The main entrance area:

Looking down the "main street" strip for the model

Showing the southern "main street" building

"Downtown on Route 4" is on the building.  In retrospect its somewhat of a stretch but still something to note.  Also this is one of two "taglines" for the Hamilton Crossings model.  This part of the building has a tavern and a pizza vendor.

Showing the northern "main street" building
There is a "cantina", a fountain and entrance to the building

Showing a mosaic plaza with a fountain (eye shape)
The fountain is the "Typhoon Eye" and is represented with mosaic tiles.  Colors representing water are used and this is a sort of "doormat" for the new center.

Showing a couple of businesses and a plaza between buildings

Showing an antique shop at the corner and rear

Looking from the three way intersection back towards the entrance

Showing the second plaza between buildings, this one with a small light sculpture and elevated deck

Showing the southern entrance building

Rear of the south entrance building

Showing a health store and a snack store

Showing two vendors of another building, a wine shop and farmer's market

Showing the third vendor of the building, a jewelry store (also isometric view towards northwest)

Rear of the north entrance building

Showing the "cantina" and a cake/bakery

A note about the last image, notice the plazas lining up with each other.  Visitors can cross between them and look beyond them to see another proposed building in the background.  This generates some visual interest and depth and the idea would appear again in a couple of the later models.

Showing an office supply and creative hobbies store

Transitioning to the southern most building

Showing a clothing shop, fencing at the top is a mini roof park

A fishing and outdoor gear outlet

Corner businesses, one a slight homage to the profession and another a botany and flower shop

Rear of this building, showing a chili restaurant and FH

Showing a street facing corner of the building with shopping center lettering
The text reads "The Crossings At Route 4" and has two faces with the text.  One is facing westward for people entering the shopping center while the other faces southward for Route 4 traffic.

Showing the rooftop park complete with pond

Closeup of the roof park

Moving towards the northernmost building

Entrance corner of the furthest building - sandwich shop

Showing a gas station in a building
Another note: this building was an attempt to fit the completely auto-centric gas station into a suburban retrofit design of this nature.

Opposite corner of sandwich shop

Pan out shot of the northernmost building

Some miscellaneous images

Close up of the first plaza, showing a "book theme" fountain
...And dating the model in the process.
Perhaps dates far in the future should be used.
2047?
2099?
23rd Century?
9000 A.D.?

Showing the second plaza/walkway.  Two steps lead to the deck along with one ramp leading to the center.

A small sitting area with some light flower placement at the center

Closeup of "The Typhoon Eye" fountain and plaza

Sidewalk side shot, showing Samerkand and its landscaping
The Next Hamilton Crossing post is the Review and Wrap-up session.
